How the audience relates to the lyrics of pop songs

People listen to pop music not only for the beat of the songs but also for the lyrics; they listen and connect emotionally with them normally relating the lyrics to a certain memory. With my type of song (a love song) there is generally a bit of narrative in the video if not all of it as again people like to in vision a story and match it to the lyrics, this is why I am doing a purely narrative music video. It will help the audience connect with the song and also may make them relate there own similar experiences with it.
